Maureen FitzSimons' early achievements in performing arts (now known as Maureen O'Hara), would have placed her, in America's eyes, into the class of child prodigies. As a person with Irish roots, surrounded as her by talented parents and family members did this naturally. Maureen entered this loving refuge within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th 1920. Marguerita FitzSimons' mom, Lilburn, was an contralto. Charles FitzSimons managed a Dublin-based company and was the owner of a portion of "The Shamrock Rovers," a renowned Irish soccer team. Maureen was the third of six FitzSimons children - Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen excelled at sports and loved rough games. Additionally, she had a gift for acting. This was apparent when she was awarded each Feis in drama and theatre that Ireland had to offer. At age fourteen, she was admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her goal was to study operatic singing and classical theater.
